Self Defence Courses

For people, schools or companies, interested in basic self defence rather than martial arts, Chris Eacott runs courses for groups of six or more participants.

The classes teach how to move your body in a way that breaks the balance of the attacker, allowing you to either escape from, or pin, the aggressor.

On the premise that smaller, weaker people do not tend to attack larger, stronger people, all the moves are non-strength based. Rather they are centred around whole body movements that can be easily and quickly learnt.

The classes are based around learning simple, effective principles that can be applied in an infinite variety of circumstances or attacks, rather than memorizing set techniques and forms.

Given that the best defence is to never be attacked in the first place, the classes also focus on teaching awareness raising exercises so that students learn how to avoid dangerous situations in the first place.

These classes are suitable for all age groups from six years to adult and for both males and females. They are also suitable for any level of fitness and can be run either at our dojo in South Brisbane, or, if preferred, at your workplace or school.

Self defence Brisbane

These courses have been run succcessfully for many years within both private and State Schools as well as for coporate and local government bodies.

We are happy to tailor the classes to your specific needs.

Chris's extensive knowledge allows him to choose the best techniques from several disciplines of martial arts. His course design, instruction and assessment techniques are of the highest standard. I highly recommend Chris and his services.

Scott Emblen Acting Head of Department – Physical Education
Brisbane State High School

We found Chris to be very informative as an instructor, with a strong technical understanding of this practice. His practical exercises were excellent, and went through a wide variety of scenarios. The classes are ideal for being held on-site, especially given that all attendees were in work attire, and no change of clothing is required.

Chris is able to gain the respect of students due to his extensive professional knowledge. Students respond well to his approach and are happy to work hard, improve and strive for excellence. He also establishes a friendly, yet professional rapport with staff. Chris is proactive in responding to the needs of staff and students. He willingly works with staff to establish the goals of the programme. He also adapts the content and presentation of his methods to suit the group he is working with. I am happy to recommend Chris as an instructor in a school setting.
