Training consists primarily of iaijutsu (individual sword-drawing techniques), kumitachi (paired techniques), kenjutsu (combat techniques), suburi (cutting exercises), kata (complex patterns of techniques), tameshigiri (test cutting), and mutodori (sword-taking techniques and unarmed defence against the sword). Also studied at Komei Juku Australia is Ryoen Ryu Naginatajutsu.
Ryouen Ryu Naginatajutsu specializes in the use of the bladed polearm (Naginata) and the long knife (kowakizashi) used together for long and short distance combative techniques.
What are the benefits of Iaijutsu?
Komei Juku Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu will help you to develop over time:
1. Concentration
2. Self-Discipline
3. Respect for others
4. Fitness
5. Awareness
6. Confidence
7. Responsibility
8. Martial skill
However, as important as knowing and understanding the techniques of Muso Jikinden Eishin Ryu, is having the appropriate mindset and attitude towards training. Sekiguchi Sensei believes that training in iai prepares students to deal more efficiently with the events in one's life. For example, having higher expectations of yourself than of others, nurtures personal and human relationships. When we strive for high personal performance we in turn, as we improve, become more useful to others whether it be in the dojo or in our routine lives.
Our aim is to provide a comfortable, safe and professional training environment for women and men of all ages and backgrounds to study and enjoy Komei Juku iaijutsu.
